This post reminds me of a tactic I discovered eons ago. As a project manager of a massive database project I learned a few interesting facts about databases.
The ONE fact I use now to END SPAM postal mail (about as bad as SPAM robo calls) is quite simple. When one updates their contact info - said update is applied for all ongoing connections. Said update is archived when their next back-up happens.
So instead of asking to be placed on a 'do not mail' lists - lists eventually sold to other junk-mailers - I ask to update my contact info.
I update my contact info to reflect the contact info for the entity I receive spam from.
Example: get a donations solicitation from X organization? Update your contact info (mailing, phone, et. al.) to said organization's main contact info. If on the RARE chance the agent you speak with (to update your info) happens to notice it's the same address as the entity in question - no worries. Casually inform the agent you rather be contacted at a business address. (Notice I said a [versus your business address. ) Done. Done. No more mail ever.
When said entity sells your data - and they often do - then said entity will now begin to receive spam mail from the entities they sold your info to. The more often your data is sold, the more spam mail the original spammer receives.
