Once again I find the concept of ethics muddled with unnecessary complexity.
Ethics are simple. Is your word your deed. Yes? No? That's it.
Sentience is rife with something far more complex. Morals. Morals mash-up chronically evolving social, cultural, spiritual, traditions, rites, rituals, norms - a shortlist of moral ingredients.
When the day arrives our species experiences undeniable existence of other sentient off-planet species - what will our words and deeds be?
Sadly, A/I sentience is and always will be biased based on morals.
Ethics? A/I ethics is light-years away from entertaining all the nuances morals entertain today, let alone the future.
