My deceased eldest sister (an ordained Hospital Chaplain) called many a soul out for talking ‘dumb God talk.’ On more than one occasion we talked about how those who place blind trust in their deity such that their get-out-of-jail free card = statements similar to “It must be God’s will.” (or some other tattered cliché) allowed them to avoid life lessons their Divine was trying to teach them.
