In 2006 I thought I'd have to follow the traditional route of finding an agent, to find a publisher, to find a publicist, etc.
After six months of due diligence I discovered a pyramid of schemes and scams that many fall for.
I didn't.
When I'm offered services, I reply back with a contract that’s performance based. For every $1.00 they helped generate, I'd pay 50 cents. Contract good for one year. That's a 50% commission rate.
Thus far? No agent or agency willing to sign that simple contract. Why? Good question.
Since 2006 my sales are 95% driven by students buying books for classes. Those classes improved life. Those improvements generated referrals, thus additional sales.
Now I offer a simple referral fee. When someone buys a book from an affiliate link - the affiliate earns an instant commission ;). Third party-validation creates more sales than endless invites to do endless interviews for endless influencer-wanna-bee's LOL
