Hello? Grace?
How’s your relationship with grace these days?
After stumbling across Sean Goode’s T.E.D. talk: The Unifying Power of Grace a memory of penning a short story titled Hello Grace (well over two decades ago) bubbled up. Mr. Goode’s passion to remind us of the power to embrace grace inspires me. How? I hold a deep reverence for the act of giving and receiving grace. Learning how to grasp the depths of grace has taught me how to dissolve hate.
Mr. Goode’s talk fertilized my understanding of grace as I approach the middle of my sexagenarian life.
In his talk Goode asks: “Will you forgive me?” He then: “proposes that the promise of forgiveness before wrongdoing — what he calls ‘unapologetic grace’ — can empower people to share their truths and create space to bridge our differences.”
Unapologetic grace caught my eye. I instantly thought how similar is unapologetic grace to unconditional love. I pondered this notion based on more than two decades of teaching a Gratitude Guidelines class. (Chapter 10 of the Pay Me What I’m Worth workbook.)
