First myth? Something is free. False. Absolutely everything has at least one cost related to it. Reddit pays to keep it's doors open. Visitors, members, et. al. cost? Time. Prior to this kerfuffle scores of volunteer moderators donated countless hours to keeping content relatively clear of endless spam.

Second myth? High value based on high numbers. High numbers will change on a dime. High numbers rarely represent actual results. We learned Twitter numbers was mostly bots. Surprising? Not in the least (for those savvy enough to know better).

Third myth? Build it and they will come. True - they may come. They may stay for long enough to build a sense of stability. Also true? They may go in equal measure - rapidly.

The future of the internet? Well, as more people recognize absolutely NOTHING is EVER FREE (to include grocery bags folks now bitterly complain about having to pay for — LOL) - the friction to pay-walls (memberships, pay-per-click access, etc.) will fade.

Going forward? If you're unwilling to pay for something, kindly remember:

YOU

GET

WHAT

YOU

PAY

FOR

!!!!
