Consistency, compassion and care - three "C's" to shift from a slumbering electorate to a 21st Century renaissance of engaged citizens.
Michelangelo's post provides a reason to maintain consistency such that voters need to keep an eye on the long-game. As we wake-up to the decades of right-wing organizing (electing conservatives into local, state and federal posts) this recent SCOTUS ruling shows us no matter how well planned, one ruling will reset the game.
Compassion - a key to dissolving what seems to be a Pacific ocean size polarization between liberal and conservative. As Harvey Milk once proclaimed, "Come OUT!" Coming out to our families, friends, co-workers, neighbors, churches, etc., triggered the tectonic social / cultural shifts regarding same-sex oriented souls we see today. As more conservatives face the reality their sons, daughters, fathers, mothers (bosses, etc.) must deal with the hate they create - compassion works its magic.
Care - as in gaining and maintaining a healthy balance between when and how. Being mindful (careful) to remember civil rights is a marathon - pacing ourselves is as important. Burnout is all too easy these days. True?
Bowing in gratitude to leaders like Obama who keeps an eye on the long-game.
