Balance. Key to stability. When we're ill (have a fever) our bodies kick into gear what's necessary to get back in balance. To high a fevor to too long = death.

Now replace the word fever with greed.

Greed throws systems out of balance. Unless balance is restored two results will happen. Implode. Explode.

Somewhere along the line greed created an overwhelming fever.

Honest, compassionate landlords do their best to maintain a balanced system — sans greed.
