Aloha Robert,
This post reminds me of my time as a case manager for souls navigating life with HIV and AIDS. As clients wrapped their mind around the arrival of their earthly departure I asked them to ponder this question: "Who - if anyone - do you want to share your death day with?"
I ask this question with those I love based on an awareness that not all want to deal with an endless stream of conversations or presence as they die. Half of those I deeply care for tell me they seek privacy as they experience their final breaths. They know I love them. They know I'm 'with them' - always.
The common-denominator in those who seek to die alone? They've lived a long life comfortable in their own skin.
