Aloha Nanie - what a hoot to see all those scanes? skeins? behind you. Reminds me of my Mum's over-flowing yarn remnant bins. When she wasn't cooking, cleaning or paying bills keeping a household of at least five (I'm the youngest of nine) a float - she'd be knitting or crocheting something.
I learned to knit while in grade school. Took considerable teasing when the local paper featured me with my first set of mittens in the Sunday knitting column. Ahhh! Yes! The tell-tale signs of a budding crafter!
Every now and then I recall Mum putting her entire weekly knitting class (lasting for over 30 years) on scrap duty. We'd pile all our yarn scraps into a heaping box. Then we knitted 1000's of small triangles - about 3" from tip to tip. Took maybe 10 minutes to make each triangle. Next? Crochet a black boarder around each triangle to stiffen em up a bit. With a sea of color-sorted triangles we'd lay out a few dozen twin, queen and king size bed afghan's. With a afghan design set - time to crochet it all together.
Guess what everyone gave out for Christmas presents! LOL. Or, donated to for charity auctions.
Ahh - crafting!
