Aloha Bryce,
Would be an interesting study to extract the ratio's of constructive versus destructive interpretation(s) of extraterrestrial contact in popular consumption.
How many eat, enslave, destroy humans movies, games, books, comics - are one-click away from shipping to your door by tomorrow do we have?
How many off-Earth enhance, evolve humans stories rise to mass consciousness to include winning coveted Emmys, Oscars, etc.
How has decades of destructive portrayals seasoned our capacity to retain reason — when the day arrives when wonder ripens into realty. (I chuckled when I read "all of us are going to shocked and shaken." - Not all of us - including you :)
As we awaken to the subtle meta-messages mixed in recent hit movies (e.g. Spider-Man: No Way Home) it's clear production is shifting from rock-em - sock-em robots to heroes who protray constructive collaborations.
