Aloha Brian, thank you for your question.
My question reflects on Teresa Roberts' post: "I’ve Lived All Over the World, and Here’s What I’m Seeing" — specifically her observations regarding humanity. She concludes:
So, what’s my point?
Only that my personal observations continue to confirm that there’s no free ride anywhere these days. Humans are facing challenges that require the attention of the ENTIRE world.
My response reflects on what I see. I see families buying cases upon cases of plastic bottled water. A parent — via their consumer bias — purchasing plastic bottles of water - reflects a bias favoring convenience. Convenience overrides using a more eco-friendly source of clean water.
Replace the focus on water with other issues we face. The common thread in all these issues are - effort.
When I witness souls stating they want to be more eco-conscious I smile. Being consistently eco-conscious requires ongoing effort.
Those who live in places where they consider their water unsafe - even after boiling it - then what?
- Buy cases upon cases of plastic bottles of water?
- Buy a filtering system to create safe, clean water. Use reusable bottles filled with safe, filtered water?
- No time for filters? Use water delivery services that provide large bottles of safe- filtered water. That same company collects those large water bottles at each delivery to be cleaned and re-used?
What effort will folks make when faced with a challenge? I used a common challenge. Thirst. I focused on a common resolve to a common challenge - convenience.
