Ah yes! The illusion of vast financial wealth with minimal effort. Casino's, insurance companies and social welfare schemes bank on this illusion.

Since US corporations enjoy much longer life-spans (unlike mere mortals) they can ride-out misfortunes. Corporations also know people have short term memories. Short term memories become even more short when something sparkly (a possibility of winning money) is dangled about.
