After navigating the role of Executor one-too-many times* consider this comment as my way of giving you a standing ovation for this post.
Many years ago I learn how Swedes have a ritual in their culture called dostadning, which translates to death cleaning.
I've taken this ritual to heart such that when the moment arrives where I travel on, the most difficult task awaiting the living is making whatever choice(s) they deem appropriate to acknowledge (if at all) my death.
Penned this over 30 years ago . . .
Step to stone . . .
Our time on earth
from moment of birth
creates a story
of trials and glory.
May the steps we take
allow us to make
wise choices, loving ways
from our first to our last of days.
May our birth and death
inspire equal affect
in all we’ve known
from step to stone.
*When named an Executor — I now I hire attorney's to shove papers at me in the right order at the right time with nifty little post-it notes on where to sign.
